Sonia Gandhi in black list, says Muddukrishnama

Special Correspondent

KADAPA: UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and some Congress bigwigs figure in the list of account holders who deposited black money in foreign banks abroad and hence Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee is reluctant to disclose the names of account holders in banks abroad, Telugu Desam Party MLA G. Muddukrishnama Naidu alleged on Saturday.

Mr. Mukherjee gave a written reply that the government need not disclose the names as per Section 1 (h) of the Right To Information Act, to a person who sought information on political leaders, officials and businessmen having deposits in banks abroad, Mr. Naidu told newsmen here. Alleging that Ms. Gandhi benefitted financially during former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy's rule, Mr. Naidu stated that she thus feared initiating action against YSR's son and former MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy who has amassed “ill-gotten assets”.

Although Income-Tax authorities served notices on Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy, Ms. Gandhi has not taken action on confiscating his assets, Mr. Naidu alleged. YSR and Sonia Gandhi were partners in corruption, he alleged.

The Congress culture was to empty the coffers by usurping funds and ignoring people's welfare, the TDP leader alleged.

Mr. Naidu asked Twenty Point Programme Implementation Committee chairman N. Thulasi Reddy to explain if the UPA chairperson erred by giving chief ministership to N. Kiran Kumar Reddy.

He was reacting to Dr. Thulasi Reddy's remarks that Minister for Medical and Health D.L. Ravindra Reddy and former Minister Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy, who are the Congress candidates from Kadapa Lok Sabha and Pulivendula Assembly constituencies respectively, were eligible for the post of Chief Minister than YSR Congress Party president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy.

Mr. Naidu asked why Ms. Gandhi did not consider them for the post after K. Rosaiah stepped down. The Congress leader should state if he felt Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy lacked the competency to serve as Chief Minister, he said.

If Mr. Vivekananda Reddy was eligible for the post, why did Ms. Gandhi not select him for the Chief Minister's post after YSR's demise in 2009, said the TDP leader. Wondering if Dr. Thulasi Reddy made the remarks with Ms. Gandhi's approval, Mr. Naidu said Ms. Gandhi should explain to the people of the State whether or not she planned to change the Chief Minister again.

YSR worked under her and she shared the booty he amassed, he alleged.
