Fight between friends ends in death

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: Anger resulted in a teenager getting trapped in a murder case when he allegedly pushed his friend resulting in the latter's death after he was “humiliated for having a stammer” at Chandrayanagutta on Saturday.

The accused, Mohd. Sami, 16, went to buy biscuits at a grocery store near his house in Naseemnagar on Friday night when he met his friend, Mirza Viqar Ahmed Baig, 17, there. Soon after exchanging courtesies, Baig allegedly started teasing Sami, mimicking how the latter used to stutter.

Baig, an Intermediate student, used to do so earlier also, but Sami never took it seriously except for chiding him some times, said Chandrayanagutta Inspector P. Venkatagiri. “On that evening, however, Sami became furious on being ridiculed. In a fit of anger, he lunged at Baig and pushed him,” the Inspector explained.

Baig lost balance and fell on the ground with his face down.

Except for some abrasions, no serious external injuries were noticed, but he was shifted to Osmania General Hospital on falling unconscious.

The next morning he died while undergoing treatment. The doctors said he sustained internal injuries.

Culpable homicide

Police registered a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder under section 304 of Indian Penal Code. Sami is at large.
