EC rejects CPI(M)'s hoax call claim
Kolkata: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) statement that an attempt was made to malign the West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee by a hoax caller was incorrect, State Chief Electoral Officer Sunil Gupta said on Saturday.
‘No substance'
“AD-G (Law and Order) Surajit Kar Purakayastha who investigated the matter has submitted the report which in no way substantiates the complaint,” Mr. Gupta told reporters here.
On April 18, a complaint was lodged by the Chief Minister's election agent Bikas Ranjan Bhattacharya against the hoax call.
“The complaint does not have any substance and we have sent the report to the complainant,” Mr. Gupta added. PTI
