National netball tourney from today

VIJAYAWADA: The 24th junior National netball championship for boys and girls will be inaugurated by MP Lagadapati Rajagopal at Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation stadium amidst march-past and cultural programmes on Sunday.

Speaking to mediapersons, tournament organising secretary B. Siva Ram said that teams from Gujarat, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan had already arrived. Others were expected to reach the city by Sunday morning, he said. “The tournaments will be held in league-cum-knockout format and we have laid four courts, including two under floodlights. Matches will be held both in the morning and evening from April 24 to 28,” he said. The annual general body meeting of the Netball Federation of India is scheduled for Sunday in which all top administrators of various State associations will take part.
