Dehra Dun: A complaint has been filed against Uttarakhand Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, one of his Cabinet colleagues and an official in a local court here for alleged financial irregularities in the conduct of Mahakumbh Mela at Hardwar last year, as pointed out by the CAG report. The complaint against Nishank, Kumbh Mela Minister Madan Kaushik and the then Kumbh Mela officer Anand Bardhan was filed in the court of Dehra Dun Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) under IPC sections 120 B (criminal conspiracy) and 409 (breach of trust by public servant) yesterday, said senior advocate and the petitioner J. D. Jain on Sunday. Jain contended before CJM Kunwar Amanendra Singh that the recent CAG report has also revealed that wide-spread irregularities happened while conducting the Mahakumbh mela that took place during January to April last year. The CJM has fixed May 2 as the next date for hearing, he added. The CAG report has said that wasteful, avoidable and unauthorised expenditure of nearly Rs 43 crore was incurred during the mela. Of the total expenditure of Rs 590 crore on the mela, the Centre contributed Rs 565 crore.Uttarakhand Advocate General S. N. Babulkar said a suitable reply would be filed when asked. - PTI
