HYDERABAD: Hyderabad District Collector Natarajan Gulzar asked the district staff, right from Anganwadi workers to higher officials, to mobilise couples for the mass wedding ceremony ‘Kalyanamasthu' to be conducted by the Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanam on May 20. Addressing a meeting in the Collectorate in this regard on Monday, he cautioned the staff against couples who may register for the ceremony despite having already been married. A special Kalyanamasthu meeting will be held in TTD Kalyana Mandapam at Himayatnagar on April 28 at 5.30 p.m., he said and urged all the officials to attend it. Couples who tie the knot in the mass weddings will be given new clothes, free Cellar Darshan in Tirumala temple, two golden ‘Talibottu's, and silver toe rings. Wedding feast will be organised for 60 members from families on both sides. Couples that have completed the legal marriageable age -- 18 years for bride and 21 years for groom -- should apply before May 9, along with an affidavit containing parents' consent and ration card or electoral identity card, a press note said on Monday.
