Besides policemen, 26 armed reserve personnel on duty

PUDUKOTTAI: Vannia Perumal, Inspector General of Police, Central Zone, Tiruchi, on Monday inspected the security arrangements at the strong rooms at Government College for Women where the electronic voting machines for the six Assembly constituencies have been kept. Accompanied by M.S. Muthusamy, Superintendent of Police, he verified security at each room.
Mr. Muthusamy explained to him the four-tier security blanket thrown upon the campus. Police personnel, including two Deputy Superintendents of Police, three inspectors, 12 sub-inspectors and 48 constables have been deployed. This apart, 26 armed reserve police personnel have been pressed into service. On technical aspect, Mr. Muthusamy informed the IG that two technical officials were keeping a strict vigil on the strong rooms.
Mr. Perumal ensured that bomb detection and disposal squads, and the Tamil Nadu Special Battalion personnel were available on the college campus.
He saw the boundary up to which the party agents were permitted to verify the arrangements.
