TIRUPATI: The financial crisis at Sri Venkateswara University has taken a turn for the worse. Its non-teaching employees have served a notice on the management that they would take legal action and resort to agitation if the university failed to clear their revised pension arrears, gratuity, commutation differential portion etc., which has remained unpaid for the last ten months, before the end of April. The non-teaching employees have also cited Supreme Court orders for payment of interest up to 4.5 per cent to 5 per cent for any delay in the release of terminal benefits. The retired non-teaching employees, in a signed memorandum submitted to the SVU Registrar on Monday, attributed the whole problem to the non-release of an additional grant worth Rs. 10 crore, assured to the university's Vice-Chancellor by the State Finance Department. They warned that the State government alone would be responsible for the consequences in this regard .
