Four detained in connection with murder

Staff Reporter

TIRUNELVELI: Police have detained four persons in connection with the murder of N. Subramanian (43), a labourer from Kulavanigarpuram here.

When a gunny bag was retrieved from a well at Paalkattalai village near here on Monday, the police found five pieces of a human body dumped in it. During investigation, it was found that the extra-marital affair Subramanian had with a girl from Thatchanallur area might have led to his murder.

“As the girl already had an affair with a Coimbatore-based self-styled godman, who helped her financially build a house at Thatchanallur, she was compelled to give up her relationship with Subramanian. When she continued the affair, Subramanian might have been murdered by the girl's relatives or by the godman's henchmen, we suspect. We've also gathered some information in this direction,” said police sources.
