DAVANGERE: The Chennagiri police have solved a murder case that had been reported on March 31 in Taragutti village of Chennagiri taluk and arrested Thimmanna. The police said that they had recovered from Thimmanna Rs. 2,000 in cash and a mobile phone, which he had robbed from Onkarmma before killing her. Superintendent of Police H.S. Venkatesh told presspersons here on Tuesday that one Sureshkumar had lodged a complaint some time ago with the Chennagiri police saying that his sister Onkaramma was missing. The police, who had only booked a missing case, found a body on Hulimaradi hillock on April 4. Investigation revealed that it was the body of Onkaramma, who had been strangled to death. Mr. Venkatesh said that a few years ago, Thimmanna and his brother had taken 2.5 acres of land from Onkaramma on lease for agricultural purposes. However, Thimmanna and his brother were not paying the agreed annual lease amount to Onkaramma promptly. She had told the two brothers some time ago that she would give her land on lease to someone else from this year. Thimmanna hatched a plan to kill Onkaramma and keep the land for himself. He waylaid her on the Hulimaradi hillock and killed her. After committing the murder, Thimmanna had thrown the mobile handset of the victim into a well. The Superintendent of Police has complimented the Chennagiri police for solving the case.
