Prof. Goverdhan Mehta to be honoured with a doctorate by the JNTUH 45 gold medals to be presented to candidates who excelled in various streams HYDERABAD: Distinguished researcher and former Director of Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, Goverdhan Mehta will be felicitated with an honorary doctorate at the second convocation of the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Hyderabad (JNTUH) to be held on Thursday. The Governor and Chancellor, E.S.L. Narasimhan will preside. The JNTUH Vice-Chancellor D.N. Reddy said that Prof. Mehta will be first to be honoured with a Doctorate by the JNTUH. Prof. Mehta, who also worked as the Vice-Chancellor of University of Hyderabad will also deliver the Convocation Address. Prof. Reddy said 41,341 B.Tech students will get their degree apart from 4,332 MBAs, 5799 MCAs, 2692 M.Techs and 197 PhDs during the convocation. He said 45 gold medals would be presented to candidates who excelled in various streams. Prof. Reddy said JNTUH has carved a niche for itself at the national and international level due to its academic talent. I t was honoured with outstanding engineering institute in South India in recognition of leadership development, industry relevant curriculum and industry interface by a national channel.
