‘Opposition parties not being invited to programmes' CHIKMAGALUR: Motamma, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, said here on Wednesday that protocol was not being followed and people's representatives and leaders of the Opposition parties were being systematically ignored by the State government. Ms. Motamma told presspersons that representatives of the Opposition parties were not being invited to the inauguration and foundation-stone laying programmes. She said the Opposition leaders had brought this to the notice of Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa. Ms. Motamma said anarchy had been prevailing in the State. Stree Shakti self-help groups were not getting the encouragement from the State government. Criticising the State government for giving a vague report to the Supreme Court on the observations made by the CEC, she said the delay in handing over land in Ramanadurga for mining iron ore to the Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Ltd. had provided an opportunity for exploitation by private parties. Accusing BJP MLAs in Chikmagalur district of favouritism in the distribution of grants from the State government and the Centre, she said the application forms for some schemes were distributed from the residence of the Sringeri MLA. She said legislators were misleading the people on the drinking water shortages in the district and old age pension had not been paid for more than three months. She said there had been delay in the implementation of the Rajiv Gandhi Rural Electrification Programme as people's representatives had no control over officials.
