16 firearms, 1,248 gelatine sticks and 1,000 detonators confiscated

KADAPA: Unaccounted cash of Rs. 1.98 crore has been seized during vehicle checking at various check-posts in Kadapa district so far, Kadapa District Election Officer and Collector Shashi Bhushan Kumar said on Wednesday.
Kadapa police had executed 220 non-bailable warrants and 44 warrants were pending, he said and added that 9,966 persons were bound over so far, the Collector said in a statement.
Sixteen unlicensed firearms, 1,248 gelatine sticks, 1,000 detonators and four bombs have been seized by the police in the district. In all, 7,442 cases of violation of the election code were booked.
Officials got 6,303 wall-writings, posters and banners were removed and 149 vehicles were seized for plying without valid permission. Action had been taken on 990 other cases, he said.
