All-round effort by Jinu

SASTHAMCOTTA: Kottayam rode on Jinu's all-round performance to defeat Alappuzha by 72 runs in the South Zone under-16 women's cricket tournament at the DB College ground on Wednesday.

Jinu top-scored with 33 as Kottayam scored 121 for three in 25 overs. He then wrecked the opponent with a fine spell of six for four as Alappuzha was bundled out for 49.

Host Kollam registered its second straight win with a seven-wicket victory over Thiruvananthapuram.

The scores:

Kottayam 121 for three in 25 overs (Jinu 33) bt Alappuzha 49 in 15.1 overs (Jinu six for four).

Thiruvananthapuram 33 in 11.2 overs (Arumina three for 11, Serin three for

11) lost to Kollam 35 for three in 14.5 overs. — Principal Correspondent
