Action planned against toll collection firm
Special Correspondent
BANGALORE: Minister for Public Works C.M. Udasi has said that the State Government is considering taking action against Navayuga Devanahalli Tollways Private Ltd. (NDTPL) for collecting toll from vehicles on National Highway 7 near Bengaluru International Airport without implementing the conditions laid down in the agreement it had signed with the Government.
Speaking to presspersons here on Wednesday, the Minister said that the National Highways Authority of India had begun upgrading a 22-km stretch on the Hyderabad-Bangalore section of NH 7.
The work included construction of elevated stretches/flyovers/underpasses and service roads and toll collection on a build, operate and transfer basis.
Conditions
The Government had given permission for toll collection after the work was over, subject to certain conditions, he said.
The note prepared by his department said that work on upgrading the 22-km stretch had not been completed.
Meeting to be held
He said that a meeting would be convened, attended by Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, in which the exact point at which the toll plaza should be located would be decided. The company had been directed not to do anything that would result in untoward incidents at the toll plaza till then, he said.
