Admissions will be subjected to final disposal of a writ petition filed by forum CUTTACK: The ongoing admission processes for Class XI students in DAV schools of Bhubaneswar received a setback when the High Court granted an interim stay. The High Court in its order said the admissions in these schools would be subjected to final disposal of a writ petition filed by forum comprising parents of aspiring students. A petition was filed in the HC alleging that the school authorities are going ahead in filling up the seats in Class XI even as the results of Matriculation examinations conducted by different Boards are yet to be out. “This is in clear violation of CBSE guidelines”, said the petition. The petition maintained that when the CBSE has introduced grading system in Class X and made the Board exams ‘optional' from this year, it becomes mandatory for the schools having higher secondary classes to reserve seats for their own Class X students to take admission in Class XI. However, acting in clear violation of this guideline, the three DAV schools located in Bhubaneswar went ahead in admitting students in Class XI after conducting a joint entrance test earlier this month. It may be mentioned here that the CBSE class X results are likely to be published sometime in May. Looking into the gravity of the situation, a single-judge Bench of the High Court comprising Justice M.M. Das on Wednesday ordered for an interim stay on the ongoing admissions for Class XI students in these schools, informed the petitioner advocate Aptakam Mishra.
