Court directive to Khammam Collector on Godavari water

HYDERABAD: Justice Nooty Ramamohana Rao of A.P. High Court on Thursday directed the Khammam Collector and the irrigation authorities in Bhadrachalam to take steps to see that water is not drawn from Godavari river by the ITC Paper Boards during this summer.

These interim orders were passed in a writ petition filed by Venkat Ram and Radha of Bhadrachalam and Irivendi village.

They said the government permitted the factory in 1976 to draw water with the clause which prohibits drawal between April 15 and June 15 in view of the shortage of water in the river.
