Future perfect: Sonakshi Sinha is excited about her upcoming projects. NEW DELHI: After her pairing with 40-plus Salman Khan in Dabanng set a record of sorts at the box office, Bollywood's new entrant Sonakshi Sinha's hands are now full with projects in which she is cast opposite older actors. Her upcoming films include one opposite Southern super star Kamal Haasan whose new film reportedly is inspired by British actor Anthony Hopkins' movie Hannibal. Not surprisingly, Sonakshi has grown up watching Kamal's films and has also met him once. “He is a colleague of my father and a fabulous actor. It is a great opportunity for me to work with him,” said the young actor in the Capital on Thursday. Asked why she is pitted against older actors, she said this question had been put to her 3,608 times. “When you appear on screen, the age of your co-actor does not matter. When film offers with big stars come my way, I do not feel like refusing them. Having said that, I would like to work with the younger lot! I even got offers for movies with Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan, but unfortunately I did not have the dates.” Though Salman Khan, who has given her an excellent launch pad, is a family friend, the actor did not feel awkward playing his love interest in Dabanng. “He took extra care of me. If Salman has said on record that he feels uncomfortable doing romantic scenes with me then it has to be true. As far as my comfort level with Salman is concerned, it was palpable in our last film.” Unlike her contemporaries who have made their mark as glamorous ladies, Sonakshi feels she has succeeded in breaking the stereotypical image of a Hindi film heroine. “I can play a villager with equal aplomb!” Daughter of Bollywood veteran Shatrughan Sinha, Sonakshi feels she has to live up to her father's expectations and does not want to embarrass him in any way. She may appear as a contestant in Kaun Banega Crorepati in Bhojpuri that her father will host. “I can understand Bhojpuri but cannot speak.… I remember my grandmother often telling me in Bhojpuri to eat dal bhaat,” said the vivacious actor. She was in the Capital for the launch of a new Hindi edition of Filmfare. Contrary to her image of a conservative sari-clad woman in her debut film Dabanng, Sonakshi says she is comfortable in both Indian and Western outfits.
