Minister tells officials to achieve targets

SANGAREDDY: Minister for Higher Education and Agriculture C. Damodar Rajanarasimha called upon the officials to reach targets fixed in agriculture and allied activities.

Presiding over a review meeting held at Sangareddy Collectorate on Friday, he wanted the officials to take care of fertilizer supply to the farmers during the khariff and said that there should not be any short supply.

He also directed the project director of the micro irrigation to submit details on the process of selecting the beneficiaries. The officials were also directed to submit details for the establishment of fish development centres near and around Singur project.

Collector S. Suresh Kumar said that all precautions are in place to arrest the problem of fertilizer shortage keeping the previous experience in mind. Informing that as many as 60 IKP centres were established to supply fertilizer to farmers, he said that it helped preventing traders from stockpiling them. The officers of the agriculture department were also directed to check the mixing plants from diverting fertilizer from the district. Joint Collector T. Vijaya Kumar said that four lakh tonnes of paddy production is expected from the district.

Later in the day, the Minister has handed over Ugadi Puraskarams to the persons selected by different departments.
