Bringing in more clarity

The growth of Bangalore as an IT capital has also brought with it a plethora of problems, especially for the land-owning citizens. With land becoming a precious commodity, many property owners have been entrapped by land sharks.

Without clear titles, proper clearances from the authorities, lack of clarity, and bogus documents in circulation, a large number of property owners run from pillar to post seeking some clarity in the murk. For some, it has also been a late and heartbreaking realisation that properties that they ‘own' actually don't belong to them.

It's Official, The Hindu's reader connect programme at our office on Saturday, was an attempt to provide a platform for readers to interact with the officials of the Department of Stamps and Registration and seek lucidity on various subjects. Issues ranging from corruption to policy matters were raised by readers, stakeholders and social activists alike.

The official team from the department, led by Inspector-General of Registrations and Commissioner of Stamps B. Shivappa and assisted by Assistant Inspector-General Bhojya Naik and Law Officer B. Surendra, patiently answered readers' queries at the three-hour session.
