Plea for commission to solve Gulf victims' woes

HYDERABAD: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has urged the government to set up a full-fledged department and a State-level administrative commission to look into the problems of Gulf victims/immigrants and payment of adequate compensation to the families of those who have gone to the Middle-East countries for livelihood and committed suicide.

At a press conference here on Monday, BJP national secretary P. Muralidhar Rao said successive governments had neglected the woes of Gulf victims.

More than 20 lakh Indians were working in the Gulf countries and 80 per cent of them hailed from Kerala and Andhra Pradesh.
