CHITTOOR: District Collector Salmon Arogya Raj has warned of criminal action against officers found diverting 13th finance funds to projects other than drinking water schemes. A review meeting with Mandal Development Officers and Panchayat Raj secretaries was held here on Tuesday. Speaking on this occasion, he said that drinking water problem would arise in the ensuing summer and it should be tackled promptly and effectively by the concerned officers without causing hardships to people. The grants released for drinking water schemes should be spent only for the repair of bore-wells, transportation of drinking water and laying pipelines. A monitoring cell would function round-the-clock from the Collector's office and the officers were instructed to inform about problems in implementation of drinking water schemes in their jurisdiction, which would be redressed immediately. He also asked them to provide work to at least 150 labourers in each Grama Panchayat under National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme and prompt payment to them. DWMA PD Chandra Mouli was present at the meeting among other officers.
