Devotees flock to Kandal Cross shrine

Udhagamandalam: All roads in this hill station led to Kandal on the outskirts of the town on Tuesday. The occasion was the annual feast of the Kandal Cross Shrine.

With thousands of persons from various parts of the district belonging to different religious orders participating, the Bishop of Ootacamund Diocese Rt.Rev.A.Amalraj presided over a high mass conducted with the help of priests belonging to the Ootacamund Diocese. A car procession and benediction brought the curtain down on the celebrations which commenced on April 24 with a flag procession. The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation pressed into service special buses for the convenience of the devotees.
