Programme to be held at Gokulam Convention Centre, Kaloor, on Friday.
KOCHI: Registrations will conclude on Thursday for the pre-counselling guidance programme The Hindu-EducationPlus is organising here on May 6 for students seeking admission to courses in various professional streams. Entry to the event at Gokulam Convention Centre, Kaloor, on a first come, first served basis, will be free. Advance registration is recommended. Registration forms are available at the office of The Hindu at NH Bypass Road, Vyttila Junction (Phone: 0484-2301653, 2307836). Registration can also be done by sending an e-mail to ep@thehindu.co.in. The programme will be addressed by eminent experts, including Dr. S. Rajoo Krishnan, convenor of the committee handling the normalisation of scores of candidates in different Plus Two examinations for preparing the engineering rank list; Dr. K. Reghunadhan Pillai, former Joint Commissioner for Entrance Examinations; and Mr. B.S. Warrier, a leading figure in the education counselling scene. Shadwell's International Business School, Nirmal Infopark, Kochi, is the presenting sponsor of the events. Associate sponsors include Noorul Islam Centre for Higher Education, Thuckalay; Co-operative Academy of Professional Education, Thiruvananthapuram; and Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management - Kerala, Technopark, Trivandrum. Samsung Mobiles is the gift sponsor. ViCTERS Channel is the communication partner. The session will focus on the changes in the admission procedure with the inclusion of marks in Plus Two examinations and the process of normalisation. Apart from an overview of the key courses, and the career and course options, it will focus on strategies relating to the online seat-allotment process conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations. An education expo, with stalls featuring education-related offerings from various organisations, will be open from 9.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. as part of the event. Lucky visitors to the fair have the opportunity to win mobile phones as prizes, which will be based on the draw of lots at the end of the fair. IT@School will record the programme and telecast it subsequently through ViCTERS channel. Participants can put forward questions to the panel of experts at an interactive session. A specially produced handbook with detailed information on courses will be provided to each participant free of cost. Chennai-based Bodhi will offer a free personality test to students at the event venue.
