Mango stalls raided

Staff Reporter

Nagercoil: A team led by Nagercoil Municipal Health Officer (in-charge) Chandran and Food Inspectors conducted surprise raids in various mango stalls and godowns on Thursday and Friday.

They verified whether the mangoes supplied to the customers were genuinely ripened or artificially ripened by making use of ‘calcium carbide' which was harmful to health.

They conducted surprise raids in wholesale shops near Head Post Office, Vadaserry Market, Asampu Road, Beach Road Junction, Chettikulam Junction and all the retail shops on P.W.D Road.

However all the mangoes were naturally ripened.
