Growing sense of intolerance in city

The seamier side of Hyderabad was on display the other day - ugly, callous and largely inhuman side. Murderous assaults are nothing new in a bustling metropolis. But the attack on the Majlis leader, Akbaruddin Owaisi, caught everybody by surprise. Not because a sitting MLA was dared in his own lair, but the ruthless way he was targeted.

The telecast of the video clip showing the naked raw emotions only left everyone numb. Whatever be the reasons that led to the flashpoint, what is shocking is the growing intolerance to sort out differences in a civilised way. The only silver lining, if it can be called that, is the subdued reaction to the horrific incident.

If the Majlis workers have not gone berserk, the leadership sure deserve a pat.
