Special Correspondent

Sakthi Dasan managed to escape from abductors and filed a complaint

TAMBARAM: The Madipakkam police are searching for a 30-year-old man on charges of kidnapping and harassing a painter, known to him.

They said Sakthi Dasan (35) is a Sri Lankan Tamil, who had settled down in Chennai.

A painter, he was living in Mahalakshmi Nagar. A friend, Vijayan (25), was staying with him and searching for a job.

They had a common friend Thamizh Selvan (30) from whom Vijayan had taken a loan of Rs.6 lakh and promised to return the money in six months as he had got a job in Canada.

Sakthi Dasan was the guarantor for the loan.

Though it was nearly a year since Vijayan went to Canada, he did not return the money to Thamizh Selvan as promised.

Thamizh Selvan began to ask Sakthi Dasan to give the money, who told him that as he was a painter, it was beyond his means to re-pay such a huge sum.

Enraged, Thamizh Selvan is reported to have taken Sakthi Dasan to an isolated spot near Tambaram with the help of two other friends and tortured him.

Sakthi Dasan managed to escape from their custody and filed a complaint at the Madipakkam police station on Thursday.

A case has been registered and a search is on for Thamizh Selvan, police added.
