Cow dung powder seizure: one held

Tirupur: The Tirupur North police have arrested T. Dodharam from whose shop 43 kg of cow dung powder was seized by a special team constituted by District Collector C. Samayamoorthy two days ago.

The arrest was following a complaint pertaining to the seizure, officially forwarded by Mallaigai, executive officer of 15 Velampalayam municipalities, to the police on Thursday.

The accused was subsequently remanded, police said. In three other incidents of cow dung powder seizure happened this week, the police had registered cases but the shop owners were yet to be arrested.

Dead

A man aged about 45 years drowned in water that got accumulated in a stone quarry at Perumanallur.

The police are investigating based on a complaint lodged by Loganathan, the village administrative officer of Neruparichal village.
