Woman stoned to death in Nashik

Staff Reporter

PUNE: The body of a 32-year-old woman, who was allegedly stoned to death, was found near a public lavatory in a Nashik slum, the police said on Friday.

It is said the incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday. Ruksana Mustaq Shah was sleeping outside her brother's house in the Lekhanagar slums but he did not find her in the morning. Later in the day, her body was found dumped near the lavatory, said inspector P.I. Borkar.

Her brother, Ismail Shaikh, filed a complaint with the police on Friday.

The police said a case of murder and culpable homicide under Sections 302 and 301 was registered against an unidentified person.

“It is learnt that she had differences with her husband, who lived nearby. So we have interrogated him along with a couple of other suspects.” Mr. Borkar said.
