Staff Reporter
KULITHALAI: The Kulithalai municipal authorities have appealed to the residents to consume boiled water to prevent the outbreak of communicable diseases. The caution came in the wake of several persons complaining of diarrhoea and stomach ache in Periya Palam area of the town in the past few days.
Municipal Commissioner (in-charge) Rajendran has observed that the local body had taken note of the complaints of diarrhoea and stomach ache reported from the town areas and urged the people to take care on the personal hygiene, public sanitation and drinking water aspects.
The people should clean the hands with soap after use of toilet besides keeping the surroundings tidy. Efforts were being made to contain the spread of diarrhoea and stomach ache, and ensure that the affected received proper treatment.
Officials from the Department of Health and Family Welfare visited the affected areas, including Periya Palam and its surrounding areas and made enquiries with the people. While four persons from the Periya Palam area were treated for diarrhoea and stomach ache on Wednesday, five others were treated for similar ailments on Thursday and another five persons the next day. Examinations are underway in the localities.
