THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan, on Saturday, criticised the continuing attacks on offices and establishments of the Nair Service Society (NSS), which started after he was criticised by its general secretary in-charge, G. Sukumaran Nair. “It is not right. They should show self-restraint,” he said. Mr. Achuthanandan was speaking to presspersons after receiving Rs.5 crore contributed by the State-owned Plantation Corporation of Kerala for providing compensation to the victims of endosulfan sprayed by the corporation. Agriculture Minister Mullakkara Ratnakaran handed over the cheque for the amount. Mr. Achuthanandan said that while the State had provided assistance to the victims, such as monthly pensions, the Centre was yet to show willingness to provide assistance for providing the compensation recommended by the National Human Rights Commission.
