SSLC: Kolar secures eighth place in State

Staff Correspondent

KOLAR: Kolar district has shown improvement in SSLC results which were announced on Thursday. The district has taken the eighth place in the overall performance in the State with a pass percentage of 81.46 per cent. The district came 30th last year and the success rate was 57.81 per cent. It used to secure places between 25 and 30 in the last many years causing concern among the people. However, owing to the steps taken by authorities concerned led by the office of Deputy Director of Public Instructions (DDPI), a marginal improvement has been possible as far as the results are concerned.

Girls outshine boys

Of the 22,675 students appearing for the SSLC examinations in the district, 18,471 have passed. Among them, 9,000 are boys and 9,471 girls. The pass percentage this year is 81.46, a jump of 23 per cent over last year's performance.

Government schools

As many as 40 schools in the district have registered 100 per cent passes. Of them, 13 are government schools, one is aided and 26 are unaided high schools, A.N. Nagendraprasad, SSLC nodal officer in the DDPI office, told The Hindu.

During last year only 16 schools achieved this feat. While compared to the fact that only one government high school was able to register 100 per cent passes, there was a visible improvement in the performance of government schools this year.
