TIRUCHI: The Indian Academy of Paediatrics, Tamil Nadu State Chapter, has thanked Chief Minister Jayalalithaa for enhancing the maternity leave of government women employees to six months immediately after assuming office on Monday. This decision would help newborns to be fed with breast milk continuously in the crucial period, Academy president K. Muthukumar said in a release. It requested the Chief Minister to provide separate rest room for lactating mothers in their work places. It has also thanked the Chief Minister for giving the health portfolio to Dr. Vijay, a medical specialist. It has requested the Chief Minister to include a representative of the Academy in the State Health Advisory Board to implement all State Health Schemes effectively.
