JD(S) leader asks Yeddyurappa to resign

Staff Correspondent

BELLARY: N. Suryanarayan Reddy, president of the district unit of Janata Dal (Secular), on Tuesday urged Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa to resign in the wake of Supreme Court quashing the Legislative Assembly Speaker's decision to disqualify 16 MLAs, including five Independents.

Addressing presspersons here, Mr. Reddy said that the Yeddyurappa Government was sticking to power despite facing several allegations of corruption, land grabbing and nepotism.

Mr. Reddy, who was recently appointed by the party as chairman of its Hyderabad Karnataka Core Committee, said that T.M. Chandrashekariah, former MLA; Y. Nettakallappa, former vice-president of the zilla panchayat; Mundargi Nagaraj, secretary of the party's district unit; and local leader Aziz had also been included in the committee to strengthen the party in the region and improve its presence here.
