NEW DELHI: To mark the third anniversary of the incarceration of seven former leaders of Iran's Baha'i community, the National Spiritual Assembly of the Baha'is of India is hosting a “Solidarity Concert” at The Baha'i House of Worship in Kalkaji here this Wednesday. The concert seeks to foster public awareness about the plight of seven Iranian Baha'i leaders who were arrested in 2008. Aadya Kaktikar, an Odissi danseuse who has had two decades of training under the tutelage of gurus Mayadhar Raut and Madhumita Raut in New Delhi, will be one of the performing artistes. Aadya, who started dancing at the age of four, has been performing extensively as a solo artiste at festivals and events since 1992. Vocalists from the Delhi Chamber Choir and the Capital City Minstrels Choir will jointly perform selections of light classical music with a spiritual tone. Having performed independently in various venues, the singers have come together under the tutelage of conductor Nadya Balyan. Other performers include Azeem Ahmed Alvi, a sitar player belonging to the Delhi gharana, and Gilles Chuyen, a French national who has been working in India as a dancer, actor, teacher and choreographer since 1994.
