Special summer camp to promote reading habit

TIRUCHI: The State Department of General Libraries will conduct summer special camp for the benefit of the students of classes VI, VII and VIII during the first week of June. The enrolment of students as members of the library will continue till May end.

Admission fee

A press release of the District Collector, Mahesan Kasirajan issued here on Thursday said that the students could enrol themselves as members of the library by paying the admission fee and by producing a bonafide certificate from the headmaster of the school where he is studying.

The newly enrolled students could visit the libraries during the working hours and spend at least one hour browsing the books, journals, magazines etc every day. The students who have already enrolled as members of the libraries could also take part in the campaign.

The visit of the students, the time spent by them in the library will be recorded by the library authorities. The students who had borrowed books should return them in time without damaging them.

Competition

A competition will be conducted at the end and the questions will be asked through the internet. Special register numbers will be given to the students and they should provide answer to the questions within an hour. Top scorers will be given special prizes.

The dates of the competition will be informed later, the Collector said and urged the students to take part in the competition in good number.
