Sundaraiah remembered

Special Correspondent

VIJAYAWADA: The propaganda of the capitalists that Communists were working only for the sake of winning elections showed their lack of knowledge. The Communist Party was interested in coming to power only to resolve the problems of the poor, Communist Party of India (Marxist) Central Committee member Thammineni Veerabhadram said.

Addressing party activists at the 26th death anniversary of Communist Party leader Puchchalapalli Sundaraiah at the Tummalapall Kalakshetram here on Friday night, Mr Veerabhadram said only Marxism could dry the tears of the poor and nothing else in the world could do that He said Communists were contesting elections only to resolve the problems of the poor and not for the sake of power. Communist parties that were in power in West Bengal and Kerala tried to achieve socialist ideals despite the severe constraints they were facing. But capitalist and imperialist sympathisers had hatched a conspiracy to undermine the Communist parties.

The UPA-I government could not make any anti-people policies as long as the Left Parties extended support to it, he said.
