Karimnagar district tops in SSC exam

KARIMNAGAR: Karimnagar district secured the top rank in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations pass percentage in the State for the first time.

The district secured a pass percentage of 91.57 in the examinations conducted in March 2011, results for which were announced on Saturday. The district stood second in the State last year recording a pass percentage of 90.30.

Against 61,308 students who appeared for the examinations this year, 56,141 passed including 27,566 boys and 28,575 girls. Girls outshone the boys in the examinations. The district educational department authorities attributed the top slot in the SSC examinations to concrete measures and efforts made by teachers.

Nizamabad's loss

The Nizamabad district lost its first position to the neighbouring Karimnagar district in the SSC Public Examinations-2011 results that were announced on Saturday. The district which made a hat-trick in the results was relegated to 10th position with 85.18 per cent this year.

Last year the district achieved first rank with 92.65 pass per cent. In all, 38,035 students (19,573 boys and 18,732 girls) appeared for the examination.

Adilabad placed 14

Adilabad Staff Reporter adds: Adilabad District Educational Officer (DEO) K. Lingaiah expressed satisfaction over the performance of Adilabad students in the SSC examinations. He said securing 14th place among all districts in the State scoring a pass per cent of over 81 was satisfactory considering the fact that students took exams without the advantage of a revision of syllabus.

Nalgonda's success

Nalgonda Correspondent adds: Nalgonda which achieved 89.83 pass percentage in the SSC results retained its third place in the State. The district achieved 88.42 per cent last year. In this year's results, girls accounted for 94 per cent passes, while the boys' share was 89 per cent.

District Education Officer P. Madan Mohan attributed it to the combined efforts of student, parents, teachers and the department officials.

Medak slips

Sangareddy Staff Reporter adds: Medak district has secured 9th place in SSC results , one step down from the earlier place of eight, in the State. While the last year pass percentage stood at 85.22, in the current year it was 85.58. registered 86.76 per cent pass, while the boys pass percentage was as 85.52.
