The Pakistan cables accessed by The Hindu through the WikiLeaks provide a valuable insight into the affairs of that country. The fact that Benazir Bhutto asked the United States to provide her security after her return to Pakistan from exile in October 2007 shows she had lost faith in her country's ability to protect her. Her fears proved correct when she was killed by a suicide bomber two months later. Gurmit Singh Saini, Mohali The U.S. could have considered Ms Bhutto's request seriously, given the gravity of the threat she faced. Pakistan, then, would not have lost a good leader.
