Four couples sent out of mass marriage ceremony
Staff Correspondent
HUBLI: Four couples were sent out of a mass marriage ceremony organised at Moorusavir Math in Hubli on Sunday after officials suspected the girls to be minors. Karnataka Rajya Lingayat Veerashaiva Sanghatana Samiti had organised the ceremony as part of the State-level convention of “Lingayata Veerashaiva community”. As many 32 couples from in and around Hubli and Dharwad had registered for the event.
However, when officials of the Women and Child Development Department visited the venue, they found that four girls did not have valid documents to prove their age. Subsequently, four couples were sent out of the venue.
Later, 28 couples tied the knot in the presence of several seers and political leaders.
