One killed in clash at counting centre

Darbhanga (Bihar): One person was killed and 20 others, including a police officer, were injured on Sunday when supporters of rival mukhiya candidates clashed with the police at a counting centre at Kusheshwarsthan in Darbhanga district, police said.

The supporters of rival candidates attacked a counting official and threw stones at policemen and their vehicles alleging irregularities in the counting of ballots, they said. The police used lathis to disperse the agitated people and later fired 50 warning shots in the air to scare away the mob trying to loot ballot papers, they said. — PTI
