Keith Vaz's laptop stolen in office

London: A laptop and an iPad belonging to Indian-origin Labour MP Keith Vaz were stolen from his parliamentary office in Westminster, which has been covered by a heavy security blanket ahead of United States President Barack Obama's visit this week.

An MP from Leicester East, Mr. Vaz was attending a reception in another part of the Westmisnter complex when the burglary happened in his room in the Norman Shaw North building on Thursday.

Mr. Vaz said the laptop contained personal e-mails and data and information relating to constituency casework. However, no sensitive data such as bank details that had gone missing.

Some briefing papers for the Home Affairs Select Committee, which Mr. Vaz chairs, were also taken.
