Adaminte Makan Abu adjudged best film

Shyamaprasad, best director; Salim Kumar and Kavya Madhavan, best actors.



THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: ‘Adaminte Makan Abu' directed by newcomer Salim Ahammad has won the State award for the Best Feature Film in Malayalam two days after it had won the national award for the Best Feature Film.

Announcing the Kerala State Film Awards for 2010 here on Sunday, Minister K.B. Ganesh Kumar said the jury had adjudged Salim Kumar as the best actor and Kavya Madhavan as the best actress.

Salim Kumar got the award for his performance in the lead role in ‘Adaminte Makan Abu' and Kavya Madhavan for her performance in the lead role in the film ‘Gaddama.' (Salim Kumar had also won the national award for best actor for his role in the same film.)

Shyamaprasad got the award for the best director for his film ‘Electra' and Mohan Sharma won the award for the best story (‘Gramam'). The best cinematographer award was shared by Shahnath Jalal (‘Chithrasoodam') and M.J. Radhakrishnan (‘Veettilekkulla Vazhi').

Salim Ahammad who directed ‘Adaminte Makan Abu' won the award for scriptwriting for the same film. The award for lyrics went to Rafeek Ahammad (for the song ‘Oru pooviniyum vitarum vaniyil' in ‘Sadgamaya'), while the award for music director went to M. Jayachandran (for the song ‘Chitrasalabhame' in ‘Karayilekkoru Kadaldooram'). Isaac Thomas Kotukappalli won the award for background music (for the films ‘Sadgamaya' and ‘Adaminte Makan Abu').

Hariharan won the award for the best playback singer (male voice) for the song ‘Pattupaduvan mathram' in ‘Pattinte Palazhi,' Rajalakshmi is the best playback singer (female voice) for the song ‘Olichirunne onnicholichirunne' in ‘Janakan,' and Balamuralikrishna is the best classical singer for the song ‘Iyar kai annaiyil' in ‘Gramam.'

‘Pranchiyettan and the Saint' directed by Ranjit won the award for the film combining artistic value and popular appeal.

The award for the best debutant director went to Mohan Raghavan for his work in ‘T.D. Dasan, Standard VI-B.'
