Man, son hacked to death by gang

Staff Reporter

PUDUCHERRY: A man and his son were murdered by a five-member gang in broad daylight at Samipillaithottam here on Sunday.

According to Superintendent of Police (North) N.T. Sivadasan, Sakthivel (51), a history-sheeter, and his son Prakash (30), were affiliated to a political party.

Sakthivel's son-in-law, ‘Dadi' Ganesh, a notorious criminal against whom several cases were pending, belonged to a rival political camp and had been persuading the two to join his party. When Ganesh's wife committed suicide early this month, he blamed Sakthivel and Prakash for it and vowed revenge.

On Sunday, a gang of five members entered the house of Sakthivel and hacked the father and son to death.

Mr. Sivadasan said that all five suspects and Ganesh were absconding.

A case has been registered under Sections 302 and 109 of the IPC.
