NEW DELHI: Three men have been arrested in North Delhi for allegedly withdrawing money using forged cheques. The police claim to have recovered Rs. 2.5 lakh from them. Kundan Bharti, Naseeb Singh and Ravi Verma used a forged cheque to withdraw Rs.2.9 lakh from the bank account of one Hazari Singh. Based on the complaint, bank officials laid a trap and apprehended Singh when he came to withdraw Rs.5 lakh from the victim's account. At his instance, Bharti and Verma were also arrested. According to the police, Bharti was arrested in a similar case in 2007. After being released from jail, he joined a company as field executive, only to quit four months later. He roped in the two other accused to withdraw money from bank accounts using forged signatures. He allegedly obtained the complainant's cheque book from the bank.
