Kannada film wins Platinum Remi Award at indie

film fest

Journey with the legend:The film is inspired by A.S. Murthy's classic play, ‘Typical Arathi'.

BANGALORE: Simply Kailawesome, a Kannada film directed by M.G. Srinivas, has won the prestigious Platinum Remi Award at the 44 {+t} {+h} Annual WorldFest-Houston Independent International Film Festival (indie film fest). The film is produced by S.V. Babu.

The Platinum Remi Award is inspired by the creative genius of the great artist, Frederic Remington, famous for his paintings and sculptures of the Old American West.

Srinivas said it was a matter of prestige that Simply Kailawesome is the first Kannada film to get the award. The film is inspired by A.S. Murthy's classic play, ‘Typical Arathi'.

The story is about the tussle between the legendary playwright T.P. Kailasam and the characters he created in his plays. Each female character comes to life and badgers him about the way they've been treated.

“What does the legend have to say about this? Are these the ghosts of his past? In a way it is a journey with the legend,” says Srinivas.

The cast

Simply Kailwesome has four female characters from four of Kailasam's major plays. All the four are being played by Chaya Singh while Srinivas himself is Kailasam. The man behind the camera is Shreesha Kuduvalli while Shri has edited the film. B.J. Bhart has scored the music.
