Some of the shops at Lilly Pond shopping complex that were resealed on Tuesday by Chennai Corporation. CHENNAI: The Chennai Corporation on Tuesday sealed 15 shops in its Lilly Pond shopping complex after miscreants had allegedly entered the shops breaking open the old seals. The shops, on the third floor, had been sealed by the civic body on May 12 since they had been misused by the allottees. A shop keeper, who did not reveal his name, said that though four security guards had been appointed recently, security was inadequate. “On the second floor, very few shops are open and even fewer on the third floor. After 9 p.m., the place turns into a haven for anti-socials. Sometimes, shops are also broken into,” he said. Many shops on the upper floors remain closed due to poor patronage. There have also been complaints of sub-letting. A posse of policemen from the G2 Periamet station accompanied the civic body staff on Tuesday during the sealing of the shops.
