Adhiamaan Centre for Social and Historical Research Centre inaugurated

DHARMAPURI: A centre to propagate social and historical awareness and research in Dharmapuri, named Adhiamaan Centre for Social and Historical Research (ACSHR), has been inaugurated at Papparapatti in the district.

G. Palaniappan, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Dharmapuri inaugurated the Centre in the presence of scholars such as P. Madhaiyan, head of department of Tamil, Periyar University, Salem. Speaking at the function, Deva Perinban, founder-president of the ACSHR, explained the objectives and activities of the Centre.

The Centre was established to preserve and protect materials of historical importance of the district, conduct field surveys and help scholars in the field of social, historical, and cultural studies and research etc.

It was also decided to hold guest lectures, research projects, training camps, workshops, seminars and monthly seminars to promote interest in historical and social sciences, conduct courses in social sciences , and protect folk arts and literature of the northern districts in the state.

The ACSHR will also keep investigating the social and historical problems of the people living in Dharmapuri district.

A news letter was also brought out by the ACSHR. A seminar on ‘Thagadoor Region in Tamilaga History' was also held.
