Staff Reporter

MADURAI: The State committee of the All India Forward Bloc (Nethaji) has urged the State government to take stern action against illegal granite quarrying and protect the Jain beds at Keezhaiyur in Arittapatti. Addressing the media here on Sunday after the State committee meeting, State president V.S. Navamani said that a resolution thanking the voters of Tamil Nadu for electing the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam combine to power was passed at the meeting.

The party called for implementation of the Government Order categorising the Mukkulathor (Kallar Maravar and Agamudaiyar) as a single category called Thevars. The other demands were that the Pasumpon Thevar Research Centre at Madurai Kamaraj University should be upgraded into a department and efforts should be taken to bring in a peaceful atmosphere in Villoor village

The meeting was presided by Mr.Navamani in the presence of M.Maheswaran, State general secretary, K.N.K.Sankaranarayanan, treasurer, and other office-bearers who came from across the State.
