Film: Raghuvinte Swantham Raziya Cast: Murali Krishna, Meghna, Spadikam George, Thilakan Director: Vinayan In the movie Raghuvinte Swantham Raziya directed by Vinayan, the filmmaker's intentions are clear enough. He wants to make a positive statement on secularism and communal harmony. He attempts to show how terrorist outfits use money to lure unemployed youth to do their bidding. The director also portrays a physically challenged yet cheerful and sympathetic character (an almost regular feature in Vinayan's movies). However, the slipshod approach in making the movie is amply evident. It irritates the viewer when logic is given the go-by at several places in the course of the story. There are platitudes on communal harmony and secularism which sometimes get excessively melodramatic. A mentally challenged young woman wanders on the city streets creating a lot of commotion. Many people, including policemen, take advantage of her. A report on her miserable plight is aired on television. Following this, Aboobacker (Spadikam George), a rich businessman, seeks out the young woman and gets her admitted to a hospital. Aboobacker is certain that the young woman is Raziya (Meghna). As Raziya's past unfolds, we learn that she was in love with Raghu, (Murali Krishna), her neighbour. We also come to know that his family depended on her father for survival… The camera is handled by Navas. Lyrics penned by Vinayan, R.K. Damodaran, and Shaji Chennai are set to music by Sajan Madhav. The song Thambrane… is tinged with melancholy. The movie is produced by Akash Films. G. Jayakumar
